while the streets may be a little slick it will not be measurable to the extent it could be 1/100th but it will cost slippery conditions from time to time. temperatures to be cooler this afternoon. around the bay, during the afternoon hours 67 to 77, inland we'll have 78 to 88 but along the coast in san francisco, low to mid-60s. >> we're going to start off by taking a look at the plaza. well we're looking at better conditions right now. better say i because we did have cash payers in the far left lanes. it looks like we have moved on. we see traffic flowing smoothly. you round your way over toward treasure island. traffic is building but everyone is moving along at a nice speed. we do have this accident however. nick smith is there on the scene. we do know that capital expressway is shut down from fox dale loop and cunningham avenue. it might slow your commute down

for work. you want to give yourself a few extraminutes when you head out the door. >> thank you. it's 5:01 now. more on the overnight accident in the south bay. developing news. it was a wild traffic accident. it sent ten people to south bay hospitals. several of them with life threatening injuries. it happened near capital suppress way. that's where abc 7 news reporter nick smith joins us with this live report. >> reporter: crews have been here all night. as many as eight cars were involved in that crash. you can see they are actually putting another car up on the wrecker right now. this is what we know. san jose police tell us they received a call about a crash at the intercession of east capital expressway near reed hill view airport just before 9:30 last night. cops say a black mercedes sedan was speeding. it ran a light, broadsiding a

car causing it to flip several times and hit several cars in the process before bursting into flames. >> the fire was spreading pretty fast. officers on scene were able to get their extinguishers out. approximately four extinguishers that we used were able to extinguish the fire to the point where fire personnel were able to come and extinguish the rest of the fire. >> now get this, investigators tell me once the car came to rest, the driver of the mercedes got out of the car and tried to run away. he was caught a short time after. in total eight cars were involved in the crash and ten people were taken to the hospital. police have confirmed with me that alcohol was indeed a factor. back here live, you can see that car is on the wrecker. they still have at least two other cars to take away. this is a process that they are trying to correct, eric, katie, in time, as layla mentioned to you for the morning commute

because this is busy. >> nick, thank you. breaking overnight a motorcyclist died after speeding away from highway patrol officers. the chp first tried to stop the man after an illegal side show in oakland. officers stopped the chase twice after the motorcyclist exceeded 100 miles an hour. the chp helicopter lated spotted the intercycle on 288 but hit a red suv. the suv driver escaped unharmed. a special team is investigating. >> new details this morning in the death of a man at levy stadium. in the third quarter, paramedics swarmed after being notified of a being suffering cardiac arrest. he was taken out on a stretcher but never regained consciousness. this is the first since the

head. >> last night just after 8:00 p.m. on grizy peek boulevard, fire crews say the victim in his 50s. authorities have given out no other details. >> a man has died after being hurt in this crash involving a stolen mini van being chased by san francisco police. zach watson's family took him off line support saturday. the chronicle reports that the 29-year-old worked as a exhibit developer. officers say he ran a red light and hit a taxi and the vehicle hit watson and another person walking on the sidewalk. the suspect remains in jail. he could face more charges now that watson has died? two republican lawmakers will unveil a plan that will give school districts to save money in their own rainy day funds. they both believe the cap on district reserve funds should be

vehicle and burst into flames around 9:30 last night next to reed hill view airport. officers battled the flames and also arrested the mercedes driver after he tried to run away. the crash involved a total of eight vehicles. police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. >> a motorcyclist died after speeding away from chp. they tried to stop the man after a side show in oakland. officers canceled the pursuit twice after the motorcyclist exceeded 100 miles an hour on i 880. the chp helicopter later spotted the motorcycle on intestate 288. he red a red suv at castro valley and the driver of the suv was not hurt. >> police in east palo alto are investigating a fusunday night shooting on hunter street. police arrived to find five

people suffered from bullet wounds. two were rushed to the hospital. another was pronounced dead at the scene. another victim suffered a nonlife threatening injury. police do not have a suspect or motive in the shooting. >> 5:32 we're learning new details this morning about a fan who died during sunday's 49er game. stadium staff responded to a cardiac emergency toduring the third carter but the identify man did not regain consciousness. the organization said it is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our fans today. we would like to extend our heart felt consolences and prayers to his family and friends during this time of sadness. >> the 49ers did not fair very well at their first game in santa clara. as fans navigating parking and traffic. it depends on who you ask. our reporter is live with the highs and lows of game day. good morning amy.

this fire as the details become available. >> happening this morning, they will be back in court to face additional criminal charges in connection with the san bruno explosion. a new federal indictment accused officials of obstructing the investigation. it also charges them with 27 counts of poor record keeping that alleges the utility new their utility pipe line records were inaccurate and incomplete. the 2009 explosion and fire killed three people and destroyed 38 homes j a man is in court to answer charges that you posed as a security screener. he faces public drunkenness charges stemming from his arrest at a security checkpoint last month. san francisco police say real screeners called them after he took a woman into a private screening area. investigators are still trying to find that woman and another possible victim. prosecutors say they may file more charges against slighten.

evening. crews lit back fires to help control it. investigators say a car helped spark the fire. >> more than 200 people have been evacuated from a campground in the san gabriel mountains. the fire started yesterday afternoon in a canyon above the town of glendora. it's burned about 400 acres so far only 5% contained. >> we have a developing news from ferguson, missouri this morning where the national guard has been called out by the govern to help restore peace and order after violence broke out in the streets. police fired tear graas and grenades responding to looting and gun fire. in an exclusive interview, the mother of michael brown told about speaking privately with the man in charge of the city's security. captain ron johnson. >> he had a heart felt message for me.
